WELCOME TO YOUR ONLINE SOUL ASHTANGA PORTAL - As an online member you get our intro series of Ashtanga basics with Xinia Alderson plus you can tap into all our live streamed Ashtanga classes and join in from your home yoga studio.
Xinia will lead you through 60-90min of dynamic traditional vinyasa, focusing on the primary series of the Ashtanga yoga method. Building strength and heat in the body to rid it of stiffness and impurities.
We are super lucky to have Xinia with us on this journey - usually she is flying around the world teaching in tropical places. Tune in with Xinia here and begin a new practice that could set you up for a lifetime.

Here is what you may need for your home practice:
A quiet space to do it in - take time away for yourself somewhere where you have enough space to stretch out.
A yoga mat would be handy and make it easier (so you don’t slip) - but if you don’t have one - no sweat! Fake it till you make it! Use a towel, or something similiar to get you started.
You may also need a bolster (or cushion) and a blanket handy.
Turn your phone off - yes you can - you can do it! (unless you are reading this on your phone - in which case - don’t turn it off!)
WE HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER of Yoga beginners packs available curated by our Director and wellness guru
these include a yoga mat, a blanket and bolster, an eye bag and a zen mist (and a strap if you would like one).

INTRO TO ASHTANGA with XINIA ALDERSON
Start the journey of Ashtanga Yoga with Xinia Alderson
This is a series of five beginners Ashtanga classes we have created just for you. It introduces the standing poses of the primary series and is laid out with focus on the breath.
We recommend you do this same class more than once, especially if you are an absolute beginner. Once you feel comfortable move on to class #2.
Lesson #2
We re-visit and start to build on the practice. Moving slowly adding bit-by-bit and keeping the focus on the breath, we start to break down the variations for vinyasas and add on to the seated poses.
If this class is a challenge practice daily for at least a week before moving to class 3.
Lesson #3
Let's keep building and continuing to shape the practice. We will complete the standing series and start to unfold louts pose, which appears in balancing and seated postures. Shoulder stand is introduced and options continue all the way through practice to keep you safe and steady on your mat.
COMING SOON - Lesson #4: We flow through the complete standing series focusing on the breath and open up options for full variations of postures. Continuing to add little by little to the seating postures and adding to the inversions at the end of practice. This class is a jump from class 3, feel free to practice this until you feel comfortable with the flow and positions before completing class 5.
COMING SOON - Lesson #5: The complete half primary series. Enjoy discovering the power of the practice, work up to practicing daily for the most benefits and magical insights into yourself.
ABOUT XINIA ALDERSON
Xinia is a passionate Ashtanga practitioner and teacher. She is a body nerd who has extensive experience in the fields of dance, yoga, pilates, and performance coaching. Xinia has had a steady yoga practice since 2006 and is continuously studying the practice. She regularly visits India to study in Mysore with Ashtanga Guru Sharath Rangaswarmy, at the Ashtanga Yoga Institute, and in December 2017 received her blessing to teach the Ashtanga Yoga method - Authorisation level 2.
In 2014 Xinia also completed her Diploma in Yoga from the Wellpark Natural Therapies Collage in New Zealand. She graduated in December 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Dance from AUT University.
She is constantly excited by sharing the Ashtanga practice and loves the framework to work within to shape a practice that is forever.
Xinia's teaching manner is light and her approach individualised for the students needs.
